Wearing the proper clothing and personal protective equipment in the working environment is critical. Appropriate clothing is your first and often only line of defense against many safety and health hazards.
Proper clothing is key. Simple as it may sound, you must dress for the occasion. Wearing stylish clothing can create a bigger hazard or may not provide protection from hazards while you work. Proper clothing that protects is the key. It is not uncommon to hear about tragedies that have taken place when a worker who was wearing loose clothing got too close to an operating machine and was drawn into the machine. Machines are powerful and unforgiving! Loose clothing is never appropriate in an industrial workplace.
In the office where of people work together day after day, you’re bound to run into some issues regarding shared spaces like the kitchen.
There are always stacks of dirty dishes piling up turns the sink into a breeding ground for bacteria and odors.
As well as garbage and food left on the counter and spills invite bugs and pests while simultaneously taking up space that your colleagues need to prepare their food.

OH&S Updates
Our quarterly OHS meeting was held on the 7th of August 2019 at our head office in Melbourne. Attendees involved the following AM Retail Services management staff, Louie Karanikolos (admin manager), Con Karanikolos (Area Manager) and George Gasparinatos (Area manager) and employee representatives Zannie Khalil, Allen Farley, Voula Katsoulis, Jacqueline Brennan and Ivan Medina.
It was noted in the meeting that there were no lost time injuries, and the Toolbox talk for July 2019 – Personal protection was discussed in great detail. It was also noted that there were no environmental incidents and no fines from regulators for the last 3 months.
The meeting also involved thorough analysis of our OH&S manual sections where there were no changes made by management since July 2018 and there were no suggestions during this meeting for any changes.
It was noted that our health and safety legal register was last reviewed on 11th April 2019 by AM Retail Services management and it was concluded that our company was in compliance with every legislation on our legal register by the Admin manager, Louie Karanikolos.
